What is the price of the ride?

Trail Rides are $150 for a one-hour ride. Prices are only for trail rides and do not include ferry, shuttle, or golf cart transportation.

Customized and private rides can be arranged by calling 843-384-4510.

 

How many people can go on a ride at the same time?

We can currently accommodate six people per ride. All riders must be under 225 lbs to ride.

 

What is the age limit for the rides?

Ages 12+ welcome to ride. All riders under 16 must show proof of age. Age is mandated by our insurance and no exceptions will be made.

 

How do I book a ride?

All trail rides must be booked by calling 843-384-4510. Questions may be sent to [email protected].

 

What is your cancellation/refund policy?

In order to receive a full refund, rides must be cancelled no later than 48 hours prior to your scheduled ride time. We are unable to provide refunds for rides cancelled the day of or to guests who fail to show up for their ride.

 

What happens if the weather is bad?

If we are forced to reschedule a ride due to inclement weather (thunderstorms and lightning, heavy rain, hail, and a heat index that exceed 94 degrees), a full refund will be provided if we are unable to reschedule your experience. Please note that we will not cancel a ride or provide a refund for lite rain, cold temperatures, or windy conditions

 

Where is Daufuskie Island?

Daufuskie Island is a bridgeless, barrier island located between Hilton Head Island, SC and Savannah, GA

 

How do I get to Daufuskie Island?

The easiest way to get to the island is by taking our private Haig Point ferry. The ferry departs from Haig Point Embarkation The ferry is very punctual so please plan on being at the dock at least twenty minutes prior to the scheduled departure time to ensure time to collect your ferry pass from the Welcome Center.

Do I bring my car on the ferry?

No, Haig Point private ferry is a passenger ferry only. Parking is available at the ferry departure point.

 

What happens if I miss the ferry and can’t make it to Daufuskie by my scheduled ride time?

We are unable to provide refunds for rides that are cancelled due to missed ferry trips. However, if you do miss the boat for any reason, we are happy to try to reschedule your ride for a later time if we have the availability

 

How do I get to the stables once I'm on the island?

Although Daufuskie Island is small, it is not a walk-able island. Therefore, we encourage riders to spend the day or half day on the island by renting a four or six-seater golf card. If your party wishes to join the ride and leave on the next available ferry, we offer a $10 per person shuttle from the dock to the stables and from the stables back to the dock immediately following the ride.

 

Do I have to wear a helmet on my ride?

Yes, helmets are provided and guests are required to wear helmets regardless of their previous riding experience. No exceptions.

 

Is there a dress code?

Yes, closed-toed shoes (boots, tennis shoes, etc…) are required, no flip-flops, crocs, or sandals of any kind. For longer customized or advanced rides, proper riding gear (breeches, jeans, and riding boots) is required.

All guests are expected to dress accordingly when visiting the Club from the moment they arrive at Embarkation on Hilton Head or when arriving at the Haig Point community dock via private boat.

The Haig Point community is relaxed by nature and therefore casual attire, including jeans and denim, is permitted within the community and on the ferries. Shoes must be worn at all times on the ferry and on property. Shirts and tops are required in all indoor facilities.

Daytime dining at the Grill Room may include various sports clothing, such as tennis and golf attire; however, at no time are swimwear or tank tops permitted in the Clubhouse. Men are expected to remove their hats upon entering any dining facility.

The dress code for dinner at all venues is “Smart Casual” which includes collared shirts, trousers, and Bermuda shorts in season, for gentlemen and dresses, skirts, slacks or Bermuda shorts, blouses, jackets, and sweaters for ladies. Dress jeans, without holes, together with collared shirts for men and with a fashionable top for women are acceptable. Golf attire, except for golf shoes, is also appropriate. Clothing should be neat and clean.

Riders are welcome to bring a change of clothes with them. We have changing and storage areas for bags.

 

Can my child ride on the horse with me?

No, double riding of any kind is prohibited, even for young children who are under our required age limit.

 

My son or daughter is under the required age limit (12 years old) but has significant riding experience. Are they able to go on any of your trail rides?

Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate riders younger than 12 years old regardless of their experience.

 

Will we be riding in English or Western saddles?

Western saddles are most commonly used for recreational riders. However, should you wish to use an English saddle, we can certainly provide one given we are made aware ahead of time.

 

What kind of horses do you have?

We currently have a variety of horses including Quarter horses, Paints, Draft crosses, and Tennessee Walkers.

 

Will my ride be led at a walk only? What if I am an advanced rider?

We are happy to customize rides based on the skill level of our guests; however, the pace of the ride will always be set by the rider with the least experience or confidence. For recreational or first-time riders, the ride will be led at a walk. Advanced riders may call for a private or customized experience.
